Through an artist friend, I was contact by lovely Susan who happens to be one of my neighbors, the kind of neighbor that you know of, but don’t really know…just to waive as we walk our dogs by her street. She contacted to say that she was expanding her Holistic Healthcare business into a larger space…one with walls…white walls and she needed artwork.
Since my company has a piece called Lollipop Art Productions, where since 2001 I’ve been managing artwork in local businesses in Southern Maine, mingling together both business and the arts. I find “great fits” and the artists have places to show without having to be represented by a gallery.
So here I go, three spaces, 12 art shows to manage in one year, it’s exciting!

About Lori Rae-
As a painter I am enthused by subject matter of many genres. Those who know me well, know the subject matter, of which I am most fond, seem to emerge in re-occurring motifs. One of these motifs, Frenzied Felines, comes alive on canvas in a stylized manner, which not even I can explain. I have been painting them for several years, but with each new work I still find myself thrilled with the end result. Others must be thrilled, too, as many of my past and current pet portrait commissions are paintings of beloved pets immortalized by my stylized approach.
I credit Jasmine, my departed, feline studio angel for originally sending me down the pet portrait path. Currently, the four legged creature that has captured my heart is Stella, a “Little Brown Clown” of a Miniature Dachshund and, just recently, adding to our Dachshund Circus a ”Little Red Rocket” named Ruby Blue. It was an obvious choice to add dogs to my Mixed Palette with such an enthusiastic canines living among us.
Vintage Cars also appear on my darling list. I am fascinated with the shape of older cars. I love their curves, their lines, their shapes, and their greatness. When painting these classics my stylized self emerges again. The first vintage car I “had” to paint was a rusty, little, aqua colored Nash Metropolitan. Sitting, slanted on a curb in a historic, shotgun-house-filled neighborhood in New Orleans, it begged for my attention and eventually found it’s likeness on canvas.
Over the past two years, most of my works have been commissions. The demand is fueled by patrons seeking the perfect gift for a loved one, or by those who can’t forget the car they drove in the summer of ‘69. Most often, though, it is driven by pet owners, whose pets are members of their families, who wish to have their dog or cat painted by a truly original artist.
On the flip side of my business coin, I have run Lollipop Art Productions since 2003, managing emerging artists who exhibit in Maine businesses. The pool of artistic talent from which I draw to manage these venues is remarkable. The businesses I serve find they have more face time with their clients and the artists I represent find their own client lists growing.
