Submerge
With all the puppy excitement and getting ready for the 3x installs and the Co-op (not to mention the day to day job and oh – yes, a bit of painting for commission work)
I forgot that I have a second round of these paintings that I still haven’t posted.
I really like the energy in this work and I’m excited to re-preview it at the Co-op…although the current home for these works is working out nicely, I need to rotate a bit. Submerge reminds me of some fictictious character from Cirque’ or perhaps a mermaid flowing through bright blue waters. I love the constrast of her orange/red on the blue.
I have a few more that I haven’t posted yet and will do so this week.
Serene
Swathed Baby Serene, the last of the five in the series and the only one that has yet to be framed (soon) – perhaps a brushed gold for this little yellow haired cherub. This was painting in Acrylic with a gloss coat to give the baby’s blanket a bit of shine. The face and background remain mat. I like the peaceful look on this little curly haired babies face. I enjoyed this series and am not sure if I will move forward with it or not. I tend to go on kicks with painting a subject matter, and then move o
Busy Art Week!
Wow, like getting a puppy isn’t enough excitement, I have installs at both Biddeford Savings Bank and Lifeworks Chiropractic this weekend. All will go smooth (I hope) as I am working with real pro’s who have been preparing for their shows for quite some time. Luckily I took all next week off to be with Stella the Hot Dog (who apparently climbs stairs) – and bond a bit. We may be doing some traveling over to the new co-op and will definately be bopping into work to let everyone meet the pup!
Working on some new dog paintings in the studio and will try to paint one a day in the week that I have off

Sylvia Kania Gallery
This is the new artist co-op that will be opening at some point in July. I will be one of the founding members, and with 12 other artists will take over retail space directly across from the High Street Entrance to The Eastland Park Hotel. The space has large windows, is big with tall walls and a loft. I love it. The artists will range from Potters to Photographers, Painters and more Painters as well as some more funky art like media and performance arts. Look out for more information on this with First Friday Events always, I suspect starting in August. I plan to show the new flowing female figures….some other new work that I am working on (a zoo of animals….not just dogs and cats) – as well as cars as always. Note Cards will be available at this space for sale.
I’m excited for this new venture and even have been told that Stella will be invited to come to the gallery as often as she likes, YAY. 1 more week to go before Stella Rae comes into our life. I have to say she has a little yellow slicker that is too cute for words. Thanks for reading.
Another great show produced by Moi’
“Dance!”, a show of photographic images from the Bates Dance Festival
will be exhibited at Lifeworks Chiropractic from July 1 – September 30, 2008.
The images in “Dance” are the work of photographer Arthur Fink, who
has been working with dancers for almost two decades. He has spent
the last two summers as resident photographer at the Bates Dance
Festival, where all of these photographs were taken, and will again
be photographing at the Bates festival this summer. Fink has also
been following tango dancers and break dancers around Portland,
taking pictures at the Portland Boxing Club (which he maintains
represents another kind of dance), and working with other dance
companies in New England. Fink’s works will be displayed in the public areas of Lifeworks Chiropractic.
The Bates Dance Festival brochure states that, “These stunning and
provocative images capture the dancers at work — warming up, taking
class and rehearsing. … Fink prefers to document the dancer’s
process, rather than just the finished result — the dance performance.”
Arthur Fink’s background includes master classes at the Maine
Photographic Workshops with Kate Carter, Arnold Newman, Joyce Tenneson,
Lilo Raymond, Eugene Richards and others. His work is in
the permanent collection of the Portland Museum of Art, and in a
number of private collections. Recently his photographs were
featured in a gallery show along with images by the well-known dance
photographer Lois Greenfield.
Fink also has work on display at the Cooper Jackson Gallery in
Portland, the GEM gallery on Peaks Island, and the f64 gallery in
Ellicott City, Maryland.
For more information, contact Arthur Fink at af@arthurfinkphoto.com,
or at 207.615.5722. Artist interviews available up request.
Arthur will be sharing the spotlight for this show with fellow photographer, Jonathan M. Dunitz.
Another Lollipop Art Management Show
Jonathan M. Dunitz
Art Display Space at Lifeworks Chiropractic,
202 US Route 1, Falmouth, Maine
Show Dates July 1 – September 30, 2008
About the Photographer
Jonathan M. Dunitz, a Portland, Maine attorney practicing with Friedman Gaythwaite Wolf & Leavitt has been involved in photography as an avocation for almost 25 years. He shoots both black & white and color film using Canon AE-1 35 millimeter SLR cameras to capture nature, architecture, decaying vehicles and many aspects of Maine, New England and occasionally New York. Jonathan does not have a specific “genre,” but instead tends to take pictures of whatever he finds interesting or photogenic.
His current show at Lifeworks will feature Black & White images of Maine Scenes, showing us both land & sea in an off–the-beaten-path way that only he can pull off. Dunitz who recently returned from New Orleans continues to capture the unexpected in his shots, and hopes to show the post-Katrina works in the near future.
His photographs have been exhibited in and around Portland Maine at Artists Supporting the Arts, The Arts and Business Collaboration at Troubh Heisler, and Solo shows at Head Games Salon and The Portland Parks & Recreation Department. His works were also auctioned at the 2007 & 2008 Kids First Gala and Velvet 9, Ripple Effect’s annual fundraiser. Jonathan also serves on the Board of Trustees at the Salt Institute for Documentary Studies.
Jonathan is sharing the spotlight for this show with fellow photographer, Arthur Fink.

Art Exhibit Featuring Fine Art by Carol Putnam
Hosted by Biddeford Savings Bank & Lollipop Art Productions
Scarborough Branch
360 US Route 1, Scarborough, ME 04074
207- 883-3004
Carol Putnam is a native New Englander. After several years of roaming and painting in the southwest, she has returned home. The artist is proud to present this series of oil and acrylic paintings done mainly over the snowy winter of 2007-2008. It is a sigh of admiration for the land that she has truly missed seeing every day, and a statement of gratitude for its persistence and her life here.
Carol’s love of the outdoors and wide-open spaces led her to the high desert of Arizona where she not only maintained an art studio, but also became a master gardener and ran a commercial gardening service for several years.
Her painting clearly reflects this life. Carol Putnum has shown in such prestigious spots as the Sedona Arts Center, in Sedona Arizona, and DC’s preferred lodgings at The Green Brier Resort in West Virginia, and most recently at the Forest Lawn Museum in Glendale, CA.
Carol currently lives and works out of her home and studio in Augusta, ME. Many more of Carol’s images and her contact information can be viewed at www.carolputnam.com

Reveal
Sorry, more hiccups, this time it’s due to the day job and the super-charged work-out mode that I’m in. I am also painting, but I need to balance -
Garden/Painting/Workout/Home-life and getting ready for new baby girl Stella. It’s a good thing that I had a month to prepare for her, we have been new puppy crazy going on buying trips lately. YES, I am going to paint a puppy picture of her prior to even getting her – this weekend actually. I am finishing one last commission (another is drying) – and then I am going forward on works of dogs. The flowing female figure series is still going to be posted until I have posted them all.
I’ll post some upcoming shows I am producing at the end of the month, I’m working on the press releases now.
I will try to get these new works (pictured above) on the site when I have some extra money to spend, right now, it’s all about the dog!
Escalation – Sideways???
Apparently I forgot to flip her around so that she is standing on her feet when I upoaded the picture, but as I look at it, I like it a lot. Right now, I have her and the other Red Headed gals hanging at

Show Dates: Ongoing
This show will be up until the Co-Op opens in late June/July if it comes together like we think it will. I will blog seperately about the co-op, but it is still in the infancy stage. The work looks great at Epiphany Hair Salon and they want me to rotate (cars, babies, cats, etc.) so I think I’ll show there for the duration. The space is funky with brick walls to hang, the work looks great and next time I’m in I’ll shoot a picture and post it.

Bask – Sorry for the hiccup in blogging
That’s what happens when you plan to get a new puppy, your life turns upside down and you forget to blog because you are spending every waking moment preparing for your new arrival. Although, I have been painting the past two weekends. This is one of my April pieces featuring the flowing female figures and I only got through about half before I realized I needed to upload the rest from my flash onto the computer. So, about bask, well, she is cool, she is driving with her shades no cares in the world and simply basking. More posts with recent works later.
Finished the latest commission, I still have to let it dry and get it a photo-shoot, but it looks great. I deliver it the middle of the month to the customer. Next week, Fluffy, this white furrball of a cat that I am painting in trade for my friend who packages my notecards for me. Thanks for reading.
