No more commissions??? Yet?
Saturday marked the completion of my last commission (a car, that I can’t talk to much about, it’s a surprise for June Birthday, but it is a car that is near and dear to the heart of the recipient of this gift. This was a 90’s car, not vintage, but it still had great character. The background color pops the painting right off the canvas. In other news I have been recouping from a cold and just attempting to get myself back up to speed and paint like mad.

Promoting Dog Portraits and Stella Delayed
I have been using this year to both create and to really work on promotional materials for shows this year and in general! I have created a give-away postcard that is an informational tool with prices, sizes, etc.
All my new dog cards, post cards – more cat cards (because I sold them all YAY!) and new car cards have all just come in from my printers.
Now the fun, putting packages together and getting them out there.
On a seperate topic, although we feel like we found a breeder we really like, we are going to delay bringing puppy stella into our home til later this year or early next. It was a tough call, but the investment into a puppy is much different than adopting an adult (which I would do if I wasn’t so scared of losing a pet sooner than I’m ready, remember I’m the whole one pet every 14 years or so type.)
So a hard decision but a sound one, so my heart beats on and we will have our baby girl soon enough! We plan to meet some potential doggie parents this summer!
New note cards and Search for Stella
After our trip out west life seemed to spiral in warp speed fast fast fast. It seemed like for a week straight we had commitments each night after work – this week is much more calm. I like to be busy, but the last week or so have been nuts. Part of being busy has included the “Search for Stella” Mind you, Stella is not yet born – she is the Mini Doxi that my husband and I have pre-named but have not yet met. We are talking to Breeders and watching for litters. The timeline? We are guessing May/June or July for a new addition to our family! I have never felt so wonderful about a decision (well, maybe about the Marriage one) – it’s been exciting to do the leg work in bringing a new pup into our home.
In the studio front all my new note-cards are finished and I will start assembling them soon and get them ready for shows.
I have been out of the studio for a few weeks due to travels but am heading back in with a vengence this weekend.
I am hoping that Stella is my new studio muse and does not try to eat the paint, etc. More news later – possibly meeting with another breeder this weekend or next

New bright and shiney updated website
During my employment transitions last year I did not update my site as well as I should have. Actually, I painted so much in the second half of the year, it was too much to keep up with updating, so I waited til 2008 started and I just had my webmaster bring it all up to par!
Other than a few little things that she needs to tweak, it looks good. I lost some of the older art that no longer suits my painting personality, and brought in all the new work.
It’s fun and the dog cards are being printed as we speak.
Been Travelin’
Back in Maine after discovering Northern Arizona for five days – and I’m a bit tired. I loved my vacation, the beauty of it all was almost too much. I came back (or will) to my studio later today more inspired than ever. In my absence I have had another request for a car portrait, this time not a vintage one. Prior to leaving for AZ, I did start my Flowing Female Figure project which is turning out very nice. I am preparing for a few decent sized shows this year and plant to paint paint paint when I’m in town. My husband and I are just starting to talk about a dog, so that will be taking up some time and research too.
